Proximity

The Right People. The Right Room. Real Opportunity.

Success leaves clues.
But you have to be close enough to see them.

Proximity is a real-world exposure program for high school students. It puts them in the room with a network of founders, operators, investors, and professionals who have actually built companies, led teams, taken risks, failed, adapted, and won.

First event: Thursday, October 8, 2026  ·  Free to attend

The Idea

Successful people leave clues in how they think, how they make decisions, how they recover from setbacks, and how they recognize an opportunity.

The clues are everywhere. Reading them is not complicated. But you have to be in the room to see them, and most young people never get in the room.

Schools provide an essential foundation. What is hard to recreate in a classroom is watching a payroll get met or a deal fall apart. Proximity adds that layer: direct access to people making real decisions in the real world.

Proximity closes that gap. That's the whole idea.

Nick Collins with Tony Robbins

Twenty-five years in business taught me my biggest advantage wasn't just talent. It was the people I was near. “Success leaves clues” is a principle I learned from Tony Robbins, and once I believed it, I stopped guessing and started learning from the people who were further down the road.

For Parents

You already believe in proximity.

Every parent worries about their kid falling in with the wrong crowd. That instinct is exactly right. The people your child spends time with shape their mood, their view of the world, and above all the expectations they hold for themselves.

And Yet

We use that law defensively, to keep kids away from the wrong people. Almost nobody uses it on purpose, in the other direction.

If proximity to the wrong people can pull a young person down, proximity to the right people can pull them up just as hard. What teenagers see up close helps shape what they believe is possible. Expand what they can see, and you expand what they will attempt.

Proximity is that principle, used deliberately, on purpose, while it still matters most.

What This Is

Not a class. Not a lecture. Access.

Schools do many things well. But there is a missing layer ambitious young people are searching for: a network of people who have actually built something. Founders and operators, investors and brokers, attorneys and doctors, tradespeople and marketers. Proximity doesn't push one path. It shows many, up close, while a student still has every choice in front of them.

01

Step Inside

Business, leadership, risk, decisions made under pressure. Students don't hear about these things. They stand inside them. Real worksites, real operations, real teams, on an ordinary working day.

02

Ask Anything

Small groups, not an audience. Students set the questions, follow up, and get honest answers. The kind of unfiltered talk that usually only happens between adults who trust each other.

03

Find the Spark

A student can't want something they have never seen. Most of these rooms will be interesting. One of them might change what they aim at.

04

Build the Relationship

The goal isn't a certificate. It's real access to someone who has done it. Small groups, honest questions, and enough time that a name becomes a relationship.

The Payoff

See the whole picture.

Most programs would show a student the office. We want to show them the life.

We want students to see the whole picture. Not only how successful people work, but what that work makes possible: independence, time with family, meaningful choices, and the ability to contribute to their communities.

Not because the car is the point. Because a young person has to see that the work leads somewhere. That the risk, the long stretch when nobody noticed, and the years of getting it wrong bought something real. For one owner that is a boat at the dock. For another it is being at every one of their children's games. Both are the payoff. Both were earned the same way.

And there's a second half most people never see. The owners in this network coach the teams, hire from their own neighborhoods, and quietly cover the bill when a family is short. The drive that builds the thing is the same drive that lets you give it away. That isn't a footnote to success. It's what success is for.

Our first event costs nothing to attend. Bring a canned good or non-perishable for a local pantry if you can.

You can't want a life you've never seen up close. And you can't learn what to do with it from a distance either.

Why Now

The window is narrow, and it is open right now.

Many of the biggest decisions of a person's life get made young, before comfort sets in, before the mortgage, before the fear of risk outweighs the excitement of possibility.

That season is powerful. It's when confidence gets built, when perspective shifts, when ambition gets activated. But it only works if you can see what's actually out there.

AI. Entrepreneurship. Finance. Technology. Sales. Investing. The trades. These aren't future concepts. They're happening right now, and they're moving faster than any curriculum can follow.

The Founder

“I was a C student who dropped out of college. I haven't had a boss since. Twenty-five years, four companies started and sold, and almost nothing that mattered came from a classroom. It came from proximity.

A job reading finance transcripts put me near a world I'd never seen, and it changed what I thought I was allowed to want. That was luck. I have a son in high school now, and I'd rather he get it on purpose.”

Start Here

The first room is a free one.

You do not have to buy into any of this to come and see it. On Thursday, October 8, 2026, a room of local owners and professionals will spend ninety minutes in Glen Rock answering one question for high school students and their parents. Free to attend, and we collect canned goods or non-perishables for a local pantry.

Proximity changes perspective.
Perspective builds confidence.
Confidence changes lives.

So. Do you want them in the room?
